TOPIC 1 - GETTING READY TO LEARN

introduction:

This course prepares students with learning new skills when continue there study on university. It basic exposure students to basic academic  skills; e.g, effective time management, setting goals, learning styles, learning strategies, and processing information from lectures and text,This will provide the students with a complete preparation before beginning their learning at the highest level of university. 

For me as a new students of Universiti Teknologi Mara UiTM , I should know ,before I starts my study I have to know something different when life as a university's student. Ready to learn about something new is not esay thing for me. So this course will teach me ,how to manage my life as a university's student such as how to manage your quality time, how to make sure you will follow all class with your lecturer and get more knowlaged and this course will teach you be a mature student so make sure you will high thinking on your study.

1.1 Making The Transition ( from school to university )

  Transition from secondary schooling to university can be a daunting yet exciting experience for our as a student on early. School support and friend may change, and there is often a greater responsibility for making decisions such as choosing a new course to study, selecting the right educational institution, how to organise time on university effectively, managing our study/work/social lives, coping with a significantly different learning environment and generally making the transition from school to university.

  The photos have show you that big difference of students transition from secondary schooling to university. life as a students on secondary school not same when you continue your study at university . you will face many various kinds of human beings , so ,,what you have to do for avoid this from happening of you? of course, you must looking for a good friend and know your new friend's background. It's a little problem of me when I first time inhabit on university.

TOPIC 2 - GOAL SETTING

In this goal setting topic , will teach you how to learn or tips become successfull students by having the best goal on your study.

First of all , what is goals? goal is what you have to achieved about something what you want in your life. For me you must set your dream first, set your target for what you want, and effort to achieved you dream to be a reality. For a goal to be a useful and motivating, the goals students set must have some important characteristics such as Self-chosen, moderately challenging, realistic, measurable and specific.So, good charecter of you will give you good reputation as a student in exam or in class. Next I want to share 6 tips for you how to make sure that your goals on study achieved. the 6 tips is create a good study environment, set realistic grade goals, study for exams by writing and reciting out loud, learn to predict questions, when taking exams,relax and be sure to read the directions and last go to your college learning centre when you need help

My on goals is get at least Dean’s List on Universiti Teknologi Mara UiTM. For the some time, I want get the Vice Chancellor award .My next goals is , I want to continue my study in degree and my last goals after I finish my study is I want get good career and get married , huhu. this is my long term goals, you must set toy target early and make sure your dream will be reality. However, your effort must follow with pray to Allah and hope it to your parents pray, inshAllah you will success in your life.

TOPIC 3 - TIME MANAGEMENT

Next topic ,i want to share all of you on how to manage your time when life on university. for me this topic is very important for you as a study ,because on university you must face independent life. With that, your time is lies of your own. So what you must know about this topic?

First and foremost, 

  Time management is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities. Good time management enables you to work smarter and not harder ,so that you get more done in less time, even when time is tight and pressures are high. Failing to manage your time damages your effectiveness and causes stress.

Many benefit when you learn how to manage your quality time, such as areater productivity and efficiency, a better professional reputation, aess stress, increased opportunities for advancement, greater opportunities to achieve important life and career goals . So what risk when you not manage your time irregularly is ,Inefficient work flow,Poor work quality,a poor professional reputation and a stalled career,Higher stress levels,Spending a little time learning about time-management techniques will have huge benefits now, and throughout your career. So I hope your can learn how to manage your time as best as possible and success in your our life.

Topic getting to know the campus will give you more infomation that you must know. In UiTM Jengka we have seven faculty such as, accounting faculty,faculty of management and business,applied science faculty,faculty of plantation and agrotechnology,faculty of sports science and recreation,faculty of civil engineering,faculty of computer science and mathematics. 

Jengka also has some good facilities for their student use. For your information, Jengka has been know as kampus Khazanah Alam of UiTM. To provide comfort to students, various basic amenities are provided by the university. All facilities owned by other public universities in Malaysia are also owned by UiTM Jengka. Among the facilities are classroom / lecture rooms, teaching and research laboratories, hall examinations, libraries, study centers, college homes, cafeteria, recreation center, engineering center, teaching plant, agrotechnology research center and others. Universities are very concerned about the comfort and quality of students not always compromised.

TOPIC 5 - MEMORY LEARNING & IMPROVING CONCENTRATION

 During the UED class in progress, I found this topic very important to us as it teaches us to increase our knowledge while in the UiTM environment. what I can say throughout my lessons in the UED class, I am taught to increase focus throughout the learning process is being carried out. much of the activity I was doing in this UED class that gave me more knowledge on how to improve focus while in the classroom. I was very fortunate to be able to take part in this UED class that is able to improve the performance of students in the classroom which in turn improves the good name UiTM.

I want to share for you 10 ways how to create your strategies for improving concerntration , such as:-

1. Pay attention. 

2. Involve as many senses as possible.

3. Relate new information to what you already know.

7. Rehearse information.

TOPIC 6 - TAKING LECTURE NOTES

What is taking lencture notes?

-Note taking is a process of writing down from lecturers and readings in our own words. The notes you need to read for easy memorizing and easy understanding when you have study something subject.

Why take lecture notes?

- First and foremost, taking lectures notes is extreamly important for all students because, notes can helps students to understand more about something subject . The reasons why you must taking of the notes in class because it can helps us to pay attention in class as we have to listen closely and pays attention to what the lecturers' talk . Taking notes also helps us to improve your study skill for activity quiz, tests and final exams.Next up, it helps with improving our memory and take ownership of ideas. By taking down the important key notes, some people can recall the whole sentence used by the lecturers even in the exams and also create their own sentence using their own creative ideas.

How do we prepare for class?

• Do pre-reading and homework
• Review syllabus
• Preview previous notes
• Look up for key words prior to class
• Plan on paying attention 100%
• Write the date at the top of your paper for notes
• Leave spaces between the notes so that you can add information later on

TOPIC 7 - ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND PERFORMANCE

Academic integrity means honesty and responsibility .  grades exist to show how fully this goal is attained. Therefore all work and all grades should result from the student's own understanding and effort.

What is plagarism?

Plagiarism is an action of copy paste something work from the Internet or other peoples’ work and make the work to your own product.

What is disadvantages?

 While your classmates have learned new subjects or work and honed their research skills, if you have plagiarized, you have done nothing. You just copied already existing ideas and tried to pass them as your own. There is no progress in doing this. Maybe you've remembered some of stuff which you have copied, but you probably haven't used your brain effectively. If you want to achieve your full potential, don't choose the way of the plagiarist.

Between the activities on interim session:

  On the first day of the UED class, we were assigned to perform some fun activities that could even strengthen our relationship as a student in the DPIM program. this activity is meant for us to know each other when we come from different places of residence. Among the activities carried out on the day of UED classes are ice-breaking. the lecturer has given us a group, the motive for this activity is so we know the friends around but can take a look at the learning situation at UiTM.

Our very beautiful lecturers gave us good guidance and have been extending our knowledge to us as new learners very clearly and effectively. As I said, on that day we were given 3 activities. so what are the activities we have run during the UED first class in UiTM ?. let me show you some of the activities we've done.

This  activity is one of the most exciting activities since, at the beginning of the lecturer, we ordered all to make rocket and throw in the air using a self-written A4 paper. The result, I have known a new friend named is Ahmad Nur Hairul Bin Hadzari from Besut Terengganu.

learning styles inventory:

Learning style inventories are designed to help students determine which learning style we have. These inventories typically take the form of a questionnaire that focuses on how people prefer to learn. students choose the answers that most closely resemble their own preferences. so this activity can give me more information about my own self.

this activity has indeed strengthened our relationship as a student in the DPIM program.
